Tilly Wallington's Story

Tilly Wallington is a final year Film, Photography and Media student, and rather than being inspired to create her art business, it was more of a personal calling. No matter the amount of film courses she studied, runner jobs on TV sets she signed up for or film and photography modules she completed for her degree, Tilly always ended up returning to her art.

"When I'm drawing, being creative and sharing my skills with others, I am at my happiest. I want to continue creating meaningful and conversational artwork but now I am particularly motivated to create it for others."

Tilly is currently working on developing her website, hoping to launch in June, where customers can reach out to her directly, enquire about commissions and purchase from her online store.

In 2025, Tilly celebrated her biggest milestone to date, her first solo exhibition in Meanwood's Alfred Bar. This five-piece exhibition, titled "Anonymous, Yet Alive", ran from September–December and she is hopeful this was the first of many.

Tilly entered this year's Business Plan Competition and was awarded third place in the trading category.

"By placing third in the trading category of Spark's University of Leeds Business Plan Competition, I have received funding to help kick-start my business and I have been given space in the Spark Imaginarium to use as a studio. Also, the series of business workshops held in Helix have helped me navigate the exciting prospect of being a full-time freelance artist."

Looking ahead, Tilly plans to invest in a high-quality printer so that she can produce art prints herself and submit her artwork into competitions, galleries and exhibitions across the country. Tilly also aims to work with customers to deliver bespoke drawings of their friends, family and pets.
